U Thaung Tin is the former deputy Union Minister for the ministry of Communications and Information Technology and chairman and CEO of KMD Group of Companies, one of the most successful IT enterprise solutions providers and IT products distributors in Myanmar. He initiated and implemented the Myanmar Telecom Reform and Liberalization Plan which increased teledensity of Myanmar from five per cent in 2012 to 75 per cent in 2015.
From 2005 to 2012, U Thaung Tin was a vice-chairman of ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry and an ASEAN Business Council member. He served UMFCCI as a vice-president from 2000 to 2012.
He is also the co-founder and vice-chair of Myanmar ICT Development Corporation Ltd. and a director of Golden Land East Asia Company Ltd.
